Kiln Working and Cold Working
Two-Week Session

This class will explore the unique properties of glass as a sculptural material through the processes of kiln casting, carving, and cold working. Students will develop skills in creating models for cast glass, advanced firing programs for forming glass, and there will be extensive approach of cold forming and finishing. In parallel, the class will explore skills in reflective critical thinking in relation to individual practice. Using the rich resources of The Corning Museum of Glass and Rakow Research Library, the class will analyze works and direct this to developing the student’s own voice.

Some experience with glass, ceramics, or sculpture is required.
