Fusing on The Edge

January 20 - 25, 2020
Kiln Working and Glassblowing
All Levels
One-Week Session

This workshop comes in two parts, both based on the title.

On the Edge 1: In this workshop, all students will be able to experiment with the manipulation of usable sheet glass in the hot shop. Pushing the ideas of fused design, this gives rise to the production of fluid and/or geometric shapes that can then be arranged into the flat tile ready for fusing.

On the Edge 2: Students will be filling out block spaces with sheet glass cut into strips and turned on its edge, giving possibility of tight linear designs and the filling in of nonsymmetrical shapes. This time will be dedicated to experimenting, exploring and developing design possibilities. Near the end of the workshop, these tiles will be kiln worked and hot worked.

No prior glassworking experience is required. Advanced students are also welcome.
