Classes

Date:
July 8 - 13, 2019
Season:
Summer
Technique:
Glassblowing
Level:
Advanced-Beginner
Duration:
One-Week Session

The goal of this class is to increase the student’s comfort with glass. Comfort brings more control, decisiveness, and confidence. The class will talk about how to make this crazy, hot material more intuitive to work with and how to develop muscle memory. Students will learn when to follow a predetermined series of steps and when to go with the flow. Repetition will be a key component of this class. Basic shapes will be reinforced with demonstrations of different approaches to achieve the same end result. Students can try them all to get a feel for what they like best. It will be a great week with lots of demonstrations, supervised blow time, and discussion of why the material behaves the way it does.

Some glassblowing experience is recommended.
