This intermediate-level course will introduce students to the possibilities of hot glass casting at the furnace. Student will have the opportunity to ladle hot glass into a variety of different mold materials such as sand, metal, and graphite. Techniques such as inclusions of glass and other mixed media materials as well as post pour manipulation will also be part of the lesson plans. Students are encouraged to bring ideas and drawings to class. One year of hot shop experience is required.

For the wellbeing of all students and staff, The Studio workshops have been modified, class capacity has been reduced, and sanitizing and social distancing protocols have been introduced. Detailed information about these measures can be found on The Studio Health and Safety page.

Students registered for this class must comply with the New York State COVID-19 Travel Advisory and Museum guidelines. Because NY State strongly discourages non-essential interstate travel this class is currently only open to NY State residents.
