Learn to construct murrine in both the hot glass studio and the cold shop. Students will gain insight into how colors work together and learn to pull specific types of cane to re-bundle in a variety of ways to make different styles of murrine. The bulk of the week will focus on creative techniques that can be specific to murrine construction, but also lend themselves to thinking about how glass behaves under a myriad of conditions. In addition, the class will spend time in the legendary Corning Museum of Glass and get to study the amazing murrine work in the Museum’s collection. One year of glassblowing experience is recommended.
