Online Course: Goblets As A Tool For Growth
Classes
Through instructor demonstrations and critiques of hands-on practice, students will use the goblet as a form to expand their skills with both hollow and solid work in borosilicate glass on the torch. Making goblets requires the ultimate control of the material. By learning to control specific cup, stem, and foot forms and connections, students will increase their efficiency and accuracy with all forms they may wish to pursue. A comprehensive variety of cup, stem, and foot forms as well as different styles of attachments will be covered.
As this is an online class, participants are best served if they have access to a flameworking studio and dedicated time to practice between classes. This is important to enable students to apply the skills being introduced. Alternatively, students without these facilities can gather knowledge to apply at a later time. One year of flameworking experience is required, advanced students are also welcome.
The class will be delivered via weekly video conferences that incorporate live presentations and class discussions. Classes take place Wednesdays, 12–1:30 pm EST, beginning July 21, 2021. Students registered for this course should have a reliable internet connection during class hours and a computer or tablet that can support video and audio communication. All students will have an online orientation with Studio staff prior to July 21 to ensure connectivity. If this class is full, we encourage you to email your name and phone number to [email protected] to be added to the waiting list.
