The Power of Transparents

November 16 - 17, 2019 9:00am to 4:00pm
Kiln Working
Weekend Workshop

Students will explore two different fusing techniques using transparent glass. While transparent glass lacks the bold, rich patches of color that draws so many glass artists to opaque glasses, they are considerably more versatile when used in conjunction with other transparents and/or opaques: they change the color of what is below, and at the same time, their own.

These techniques permit you to manipulate the color of both opaques and transparents, to change the saturation of colors, and even create new colors. In this class, we will focus on looking through the glass not at it. Students will come away with a better understanding of color theory and the impact of color interactions, while learning how to develop a unique palette, shade variations and color saturations in the projects you’ll create.

Some glass cutting experience is required.
