Sandblasting & Photosandblasting Glass

November 23, 2019 9:00am to 4:00pm
Cold Working
All Levels
Weekend Workshop

Students will explore the fundamentals of sandblasting by using hand-cut stencils and the method known as stage blasting to develop relative values and the illusion of light and dark in sandblasted glass. We will learn photo sandblasting that permits the use of complex imagery such as black and white line art, texts and photographs to be rendered on glass, by exposing light-transmissive artwork to a light-sensitive film with UV light. After exposure, this material becomes the stencil through which students will sandblast, producing detailed imagery.

No glass working experience is required.
