Event Planner

Plans a variety of events for The Corning Museum of Glass. Manages and coordinates a variety of details for Museum-sponsored events (for both internal and external customers) and facility rentals. Provides a high level of customer service by being proactive and responsive to the customer’s needs. Manages the logistical planning and production of each event and works closely with all event partners.


  • Plans and executes a variety of event experiences for all Museum departments. Provides on-site management of assigned events. Serves as the Museum representative, providing on-site direction and execution of logistics as needed to ensure continuity of event intent.
  • Maintains the official events scheduling database for all event areas in the facility. Sells event space to meet customer’s needs while optimizing space and revenue, and adhering to Museum policies and procedures. Enters data into Artifax and maintains accurate and complete customer records.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer relationships by being proactive and responsive to the customer’s needs during the planning process.
  • Works closely with the customer in advance to manage all details of the event. Insures that all necessary paperwork and correspondence are in order, such as travel logistics, hotel room blocks, honoraria, talent riders, contracts and insurance certificates.
  • Coordinates and clearly communicates with all event partners to insure all necessary details are implemented. Event partners include but are not limited to AV, Operations, Housekeeping, Culinary, Security, and Marketing.
  • Participates in the weekly staff information meeting that addresses current and upcoming events and activities at the Museum.
  • Maintains accurate information for attendance of public events as well as Museum experiences that may take place during private events. Coordinates activities of event partners’ administrative and financial staff to ensure accurate, timely billings for events.
  • Serves as a power user for the Museum’s website and its internal site; maintains content and actively identifies new content to keep the sites relevant. Maintains proficiency in using the website content management system to enter and update content.
  • Solicits regional restaurants, wineries, businesses and organizations to participate in or donate services to Museum-sponsored events.
  • Provides actual and forecasted events revenue and expense figures to the Event Planning and Production Manager to assist in annual budget preparation.


  • Bachelor’s Degree, with a concentration in Business or Hospitality Management preferred.
  • Minimum of two - three years of event planning experience.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong emphasis on thoroughness, accuracy and follow up.
  • Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively work with internal and external customers and people at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, shifting priorities.
  • Possess a high level of energy and enthusiasm
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software applications, including Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as needed. Flexibility and adaptability in schedule is essential.
