Artist-in-Residence Lecture: Jiyong Lee

Glassmaker Jiyong Lee will be an Artist-in-Residence at The Studio from February 17 through March 21. Listen to him discuss his work and process during this informal lecture on March 12 at 12:00 p.m. 

During his residency Jiyong will explore the creation of new forms for his current Segmentation series. Using hot and cold working techniques he intends to further his exploration of organic shapes that are inspired by microscopic lives.

Jiyong Lee

Jiyong Lee is a studio artist and educator who lives and works in Carbondale, Illinois. A professor of art at Southern Illinois University, Lee has been in charge of the glass program there since 2005.   Lee was born and raised in South Korea. He earned his MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York and taught there for several years.
