Be the first to experience the Museum’s summer celebration of 150 Years in the Crystal City. Join us on May 5 to kick off our summer of celebration.

Our neighbors residing in local ZIP codes (148, 149, 169) are invited to enjoy FREE admission as we unveil the new Crystal City Gallery, along with outstanding programming — including a brand new glassmaking demonstration dedicated to sharing Corning’s unique story in becoming what the world now knows as the “Crystal City.”

Opening on May 5, 2018, the Crystal City Gallery renovation features stories of the makers, innovations, and brilliant marketing strategies that made Corning’s cut and engraved glass unparalleled in the world. The refreshed gallery focuses on Corning’s origins as a center for glass and the history and innovations that led to its emergence as the "Crystal City."

This unprecedented demonstration uniquely combines history with technique as our glassmakers demonstrate the art form and tell the story of how Corning came to be an artistic leader on a world-wide scale.

Our friendly docents will be stationed around the new Crystal City Gallery during Crystal City Saturday. Visit with them to discover a wealth of information about the meaningful stories, and historical significance these objects hold. They will also offer tips and information about how to present the Crystal City to your own friends and family when they ask “Why Corning?”
