The Corning Museum of Glass holds the world’s most important collection of glass, spanning 35 centuries. As part of its mission, the Museum actively supports, collaborates with, and collects work by contemporary artists and designers work with in glass.
In 2006, the Museum launched GlassLab, a design program that introduces designers to the material of glass through rapid prototyping session. In March 2015, the Museum will open a new gallery that will be the largest space anywhere dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art and design in glass.
This Art Talk looks at the way artists and designers are currently using glass in their work. The Museum’s creative service director and designer Robert Cassetti moderates conversations in glass. The Art Talk features the Museum’s senior curator of modern and contemporary glass Tina Oldknow and artists and demonstrations program manager Eric Meek. They are joined by artist Amber Cowan, designer Sigga Heimis and Andrew Page, the editor of Glass Quarterly magazine.
