Artist Harry Allen

See guest artist Harry Allen in live, narrated demonstrations in the Amphitheater Hot Shop.

Harry Allen, based in New York City, is a multi-disciplined designer with work in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Brooklyn, Denver, Philadelphia Museums of Art, and The Corning Museum of Glass.

In 2011, Allen designed a piggy bank for Steuben, and on September 17, the Hot Glass Demo Team and Allen will work together on a large-scale version of the piggy bank during public guest artist demonstrations. There will also be two design sessions on September 16 and 18 from 10 am to 12 pm wherein Allen will work with the CMoG team to work on development and brainstorming. Allen's guest artist sessions will take place in the Museum’s Amphitheater Hot Shop, which now sits in the footprint of what was once the Steuben factory.

During the collaboration, another piece Allen designed in 2011—A Penny Saved coin jar—will be made available for purchase for the first time. The product will retail for $950 and will be available in both the Museum Shops at CMoG, and online at

This collaboration with Harry Allen highlights Steuben’s commitment to tradition by working with the most notable design talent of the day.
