Hot Glass Demo for Vintage Drivers

Amphitheater Hot Shop
|
July 24, 2015 6:30pm to 8:00pm

This Friday, kick off the Watkins Glen International Vintage Grand Prix event with a special Hot Glass Demo!

Join us in the new Amphitheater Hot Shop at 6:30 pm to watch as our team of glassmakers creates the trophy for the upcoming NASCAR race! Eric Meek, manager of hot glass programs, has been making the trophy for four years, ensuring that it has a few signature details from the Finger Lakes. When viewed from the top, the outline of the Watkins Glen International racetrack is revealed, in the iconic blue color of the guardrails. When viewed from the side, the trophy looks like a cascading waterfall, reminiscent of the many that we have here in the Finger Lakes region. See how this incredible trophy is made, in person, this Friday.

While at the Museum, see vintage cars in our parking lot and watch the NASCAR trophy come to life in hot glass.

Admission is always 50% off for local residents ($9), and kids and teens 17 and under are free.
