Marvelous Marble Day

Visit the Museum for a fun-filled day of marble-mania! Come play marble games, explore the collection for pieces that are like marbles, and see how marbles are made.

This event is open to all ages and is included in Museum admission. Kids, 17 and under, are free.

Marble Day Kick-off

Amphitheater Hot Shop; 10 am
Kick off a marvelous day celebrating marbles! The Hot Glass Team will get things started with a glass ribbon cutting and will introduce the 2018 National Marble Tournament experts.

Play marble games (and practice your skills)

Education Lab; 10:30 am – 3 pm
Enjoy fun games with other marble enthusiasts. We will provide game mats and marbles, or you’re welcome to bring your own. Plus, there will be a practice mat available if you want to hone your marble skills to their finest.

Glass in the Round Tours

Meet in the Admissions Lobby; 11 am, 1, and 3 pm
Join our docents to explore our collection with special stops to include interesting marbles, paperweights, and other spherical objects.

Museum Galleries; 10 am – 3 pm
Ready to use your super-sleuthing abilities? See if you can find some of our favorite round objects in the galleries. You might even find some favorites of your own while you search.

Royal Marble Exhibition Match

Education Lab; 10:30 am and 1:30 pm
Take tips from the pros! Our visiting marble champions will play against each other in exhibition marble matches. Watch and see if you can learn some tips and tricks. You might be surprised to find out you’ve been playing like a pro all along.

Amphitheater Hot Shop; 10 am – 3 pm
See a world-renowned marble maker at work in our Amphitheater Hot Shop! Watch Mark Matthews, an internationally known master of the spherical form, showcase his incredible techniques and use of patterns and colors. Learn more about Mark Matthews and his upcoming Guest Artist Demonstration.

Glassy giveaways

Innovation Center; 11:45 am and 1:45 pm
You can also expect a few fun spherical prizes to be handed out during Marvelous Marble Day. The lucky winners will be chosen from visitors to the Flameworking Demos at 11:45 am and 1:45 pm.
