Meet the 2015 Rakow Commission Artist: Bernhard Schobinger

The 2015 Rakow Commission has been awarded to Swiss studio jeweler Bernhard Schobinger.

Please join us at The Corning Museum of Glass on November 12 at 6 pm for a lecture on the history of glass jewelry and concepts in contemporary glass jewelry, including the work of Bernhard Schobinger, by guest speaker Ursula Ilse-Neuman. Ms. Neuman has been a curator at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, and organized the important traveling exhibition on contemporary glass jewelry, “GlassWear,” in 2009. Following the lecture a reception will allow attendees to view Schobinger’s new work.

Museum Members at the Donor Level and above are invited to come early for a private reception to preview Bernard Schobinger’s work in the new Contemporary Art + Design Wing at 5:15 pm. Please RSVP to +1 (607) 438-5600 or [email protected] by November 9.

The Rakow Commission is awarded annually to up-and-coming or established artists whose work is not yet represented in the Museum’s collection.

Not able to attend? This lecture will be recorded and will be available for viewing, in full, on our YouTube channel shortly after the event.
