Volunteering at The Corning Museum of Glass is a fun and exciting way to meet new people, share your skills, and become a part of a world-class museum right here in your community. We offer a variety of opportunities, many of which can be tailored to fit your individual skills and schedule. In addition to ongoing training and support, Museum volunteers receive great benefits based on their hours of service.

Opportunities

Volunteers contribute to the mission of the Museum in a number of ways. Whether you are looking for a regular, weekly commitment or prefer something more flexible, we have something here for you. Some of our current opportunities include:

  • Event Volunteers

Assist the Museum at a variety of museum-hosted events, including seasonal events such as the Holiday Open House and 2300° events.

  • Performance Ushers

Greet and seat guests at various performances held at the Museum, ranging from the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes and Civic Music to local school concerts.

  • Rakow Research Library

Assist the library staff with a variety of projects, ranging from working in the archives to cataloging and shelving.

  • The Studio

Assist The Studio staff with a variety of projects behind-the-scenes to create a wonderful experience for guests.

  • Guest Service Ambassador

Ambassadors serve as the face of the Museum to the public and are responsible for helping to ensure that guests have a positive and memorable experience. Ambassadors primarily support the Guest Services Department during times of peak visitation, though may be called upon to assist with special events and programs as needed. Locations where Ambassadors work include: Admissions, Innovations Stage, Hot Glass Courtyard Stage, and the Welcome Center.
