A Message About Our Celebrity Partnership
The Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) and Celebrity Cruises have enjoyed a successful partnership for 10 years on the Hot Glass at Sea program on the Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Equinox, and Celebrity Eclipse. Together, we have shared the wonder of glassmaking with three million cruise passengers, making stops on six continents, in dozens of countries, and in countless port cities. CMoG and Celebrity are parting ways on the highest possible note, after a decade of innovation and opportunity.
"Our mission is to tell the world about glass," and said Alan Eusden, chief operating officer for the Museum. "The Hot Glass at Sea partnership has enabled us to do that in a larger way than we even imagined possible. In fact, the patented all-electric hot shop that we designed specifically for this program is now making possible new mobile glassmaking opportunities. Our program with Celebrity has also served as a launch pad for many independent, successful careers for glassmakers who have worked on the ships."
The hot glass demonstrations on the Celebrity ships have been popular with passengers, many of whom return multiple times during their cruise. Many passengers have taken advantage of their unique complimentary admission to the Museum in Corning, N.Y. Additionally, the Celebrity Cruises Glassmaking Scholarship Fund, supported by auctions of glass art during each cruise, has enabled hundreds of artists to take classes at The Studio at CMoG.
CMoG will transition off the Celebrity ships during the first six months of 2018.
