Classes

Classes

Studio classes are offered year-round, in a variety of techniques, for all skill levels and are taught by top international glassmaking artists and instructors. With a staff that's passionate about glass and helps to take care of all your needs while you are here, you'll find it easy to concentrate on learning all you can about glass during your time in Corning.

For the wellbeing of all students and staff, The Studio workshops have been modified, class capacity has been reduced, and sanitizing and social distancing protocols have been introduced. Detailed information about these measures can be found on The Studio Health and Safety page.

Due to COVID-19, students registered for on-site classes must comply with the Museum Health and Safety protocol and the New York State Travel Advisory

Because NY State strongly discourages non-essential interstate travel, on-site classes are currently only open to NY State residents. If your selected class is full or if you are an out-of-state resident, please email [email protected] with your name and phone number to be added to the waiting list. A health questionnaire and temperature scan will be required before attending on-site classes. Please call +1 607.438.5100 with any questions.

Winter 2021 one-week intensive classes have been cancelled, and we are rolling out our Spring and Summer 2021 programming more slowly than usual.

Spring 2021 on-site and online classes are available for registration beginning January 15, at 9:00am EST.

Summer 2021 intensive one- and two-week classes will be posted February 15. Scholarship and application lottery deadline for Summer Intensive Courses is March 15, 2021. Accepted students will be notified by March 31. After that, open classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join our email list to be notified when classes are announced and to receive Studio-related news. Please check the "The Studio Programs and Classes" box when choosing your email interests. You will receive an opt-in confirmation email from The Corning Museum of Glass after you sign up. Please click the link in this email to confirm your subscription. You will not receive emails until you confirm your opt-in.

Spring and fall class registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class is full you can add yourself to a waiting list. As space opens, we will contact you. Experience has shown that we do receive cancellations and people do get into classes from waiting lists.

Summer and winter classes are filled by a lottery process. Applications must be received by March 15 for summer classes and October 15 for winter classes. There is a non-refundable application fee of $20 to apply for up to two classes and $10 for each additional class. After the lottery process, if spaces are still available they will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class is oversubscribed, you will be placed on a waiting list. We do receive cancellations and people do get into classes from waiting lists. If a space opens we will contact you immediately.

We will notify you by email by March 30 for summer classes and October 30 for winter classes of your class status. Full payment must be received by May 15 for summer classes and December 1 for winter classes.

After May 1 and December 1, when all payments have been made, we know if a class still has openings. We encourage you to contact us by email at [email protected] or by phone at +1 (607) 438-5100 after these dates to see if there are still openings and before applying. Submitting an application requires an application fee. Experience has shown that we receive cancellations and people do get into classes from waiting lists.

Besides a lot of hands-on learning, classes at The Studio offer a lot of special opportunities just for students. Here is a list of some favorite things to do while a Studio student.

Age restrictions apply.
