Majestic peacock
Steuben design no. 9069; this design was created in 2005.
Description: This image is of a colorless, glass piece made to resemble a peacock. A large, half-circle of fine crystal arcs above the body, evoking the iridescent fan of the peacock's plumage. A small bit of glass atop the peacock's head makes a striking crest, as it faces the left side of the image. The backdrop of the image fades from white at the top, and a pale gray at the base of the image, with a reflection of the peacock below the sculpture. According to the 2007 Steuben trade catalog, "In ancient times, the peacock was associated with learned teachers, and is still valued in many cultures as a bird of good omen."
Image orientation: portrait.
