Notes:
Thomas Buechner, former Director, Corning Musem of Glass.
Contemporary art reflects the artist's philosophy to "make it new, make it you", with the artist more important than the customer. Buechner argues that to insure the aesthetic value of their glass, artists should add "make it beautiful and better" to their beliefs. He selects Riedel, Stankard, and Laurence Whistler as the contemporary artists whose work will be honored in 100 years.
