Master glass cutter, Arner Lindquist.
The film begins with a tour group watching master glass cutter, Arner Lindquist cutting glass at the Seneca Glass Company. Lindquist is then interviewed in his home while showing some of the cut glass pieces he has done throughout his lifetime. Swedish born, Lindquist started working in the glass factories in Sweden at age 8, and by the age of 17 was an established glass cutter. At age 17 he immigrated to America to find a better life. At the time of this filming Lindquist was the only master glass cutter at Seneca Glass, although there were other cutters. When asked about becoming a glass cutter all over again, he replied that he would not, that it was a hard and repetitive profession, and one that paid very little. At the end of this filming, he anounces that he has retired from Seneca Glass at age 75.
