Notes:
Part of a collection of materials collected and organized by J. Stanley Brothers pertaining to the glass industry and glass objects. Includes information copied from books and periodical articles, ads, actual copies of newspaper and magazine articles, etc. published between the late 19th century and the early 1970s.
Extensive collection of materials and writings regarding the first established glass house in America at Jamestown, Virginia.
Of particular interest are J. Stanley Brother's notes and articles regarding the year this glasshouse began manufacturing. Reprinting, "A letter from ye Councell of Virginia to the Corporation of Plymouth", dated February 17th 1608, referring to glassmaking at Jamestown, Brothers believes the date of the earliest glass manufacture to be Spring/Summer 1607 rather than 1608.
Includes an inscribed copy of, "Early glass-making in Virginia" by Maude Pollard Hull.
This group of materials was not microfilmed.
