Notes:
Divided into the following sections: folders for individual firms; folders for groups of firms for which the material was minimal (termed "generic"); folders for glass decorating companies (individual and generic).
All folders, individual companies and generic folders have been cataloged separately in Voyager.
Some individual company folders were distributed to indivduals and organizations prior to the purchase of the collection by CMGL. The list of the folders elsewhere is kept in the archives notebook.
Information is primarily on firms making art glass and tableware, but also bottles, windows, flat glass and industrial glass. The collection is especially rich in information pertaining to firms in Pittsburgh and the Midwest. Contains copies of paragraphs, articles, illustrations, etc. from books, periodical articles, government documents, glass trade journals, ads, brochures. The information has been arranged in chronological order, based on date of publication.
The listing of all firms is in a blue notebook at the reference desk, in 2 sections: files (includes all firms, and fiche numbers for the appropriate folder); cross references.
The microfiche are filed in the 4 groups; consult the printout for JSB firms for microfiche numbers. The header/author on the microfiche for individual companies is that of the name of the firm, not the compiler of the papers.
