This design is part of BIB 128598 [Gallé drawings group 1, furniture and art glass with botanical motif].
Design is stored folded and affixed to tan construction paper; dimensions including construction paper are 54 x 36 cm. Dimensions of drawing, folded, are 38 x 21 cm.
Design is for detail of footboard bedpost, illustrated with complete bedframe in BIB 134986. Top of bedpost is designed to resemble flower, as is foot. Classical designs are used in decoration above foot and a long, twisting post that resembles tree branch connects foot to top of bedpost.
Remnants of adhesive are visible along lower edge of onionskin.
"Atelier Emile Gallé, Sotheby, Monaco" stamped in black ink, upside down, on upper right corner of design; part of upper right corner has been torn away, including part of stamp.
"6" penciled in, and underlined, on upper left corner and lower right corner of tan construction paper backing.
Construction paper has not been cut to form a perfect rectangle; some edges are irregular.
This item is part of the Gallé collection.
This collection of designs documents the activities of Gallé's workshop in Nancy, France.
