Manikowski was hired by Frederick Carder around 1917 and in the early 1920s was promoted to foreman in the etching rooms. Though Manikowski created many designs himself, especially in the 1920s and early 1930s, he typically acid-etched Carder's designs. He continued his employment with Steuben in the Houghton era.
