In celebration of the 60th anniversary of The Corning Museum of Glass, Elizabeth Barnethaler talks about her employment at The Museum (Glass Center) when it opened in 1951.

In 1950 Elizabeth Barenthaler worked for Corning Glass Works, doing shift work. When that didn't work out, she was hired as a driver for the Museum (Glass Center) when it first opened. She was one of a handful of drivers that would travel to cities throughout New York picking up people and bringing them to the Museum. When not driving she did a variety of jobs to pass the time, one of which was working in the library for Catherine D. Mack, translating German by hand.
