Shelving title: Corning Museum of Glass Fellows' lectures, 1992 (Spring)
Notes:
Lecture presented to the Fellows of The Corning Museum of Glass, in the Spring of 1992, by Peter Rath.
Presenter, Peter Rath.
Peter Rath is a descendent of the founding family of the Viennese glass firm, J. & L. Lobmeyr, which has been in existence since 1823. Lobmeyr's archives and library were placed in storage in the family house in Steinschonau/Kamenicky Senov in Czechoslovakia in 1945. The archives have since become inaccessible since they became the property of Crystalex. This collection includes drawings of glass made in the 19th and 20th centuries, newspaper clippings, catalogs, and more. Rath shows examples of the wealth of material and makes a plea for help from the audience to help in Lobmeyr's effort to have the archives returned to Vienna, to their rightful owners.
