Assembled in his efforts to apply for a position at Steuben. Includes colored photos of the artist working (labeled 1987, 1990, 1998), St. Louis advertising sheets and photocopies of St. Louis ads and catalogs for some finished objects which he made.
Accompanied by: a letter of introduction from Paul Schilt to Craig Dunham, plant manager of Steuben, dated April 3, 1998 [accompanied by English translation]; copy of a letter from Craig T. Dunham to Mr. Schilt dated April 30, 1998; photocopy of a Certificat d'Aptitude Professionnelle, (verrier à la main) for François Paul Schilt, dated June 26, 1981; "Attestation" on Verreries Royales de St. Louis letterhead, signed by Philippe Kientz, dated April 2, 1998; letter of recommendation from Gilbert Maurer, President of the Communauté de Communes du Pays du Verre et du Cristal to Graig [sic] Dunham, dated March 25 1998 [accompanied by a sheet with descriptions of the contents of the last three documents, in English].
Schilt worked for St. Louis, Tellury Jones, and the International Center of Glass Art in Meisenthal, and with Joel Linard, Jean Pierre Umdenstock and Marvin Lipofsky.
