This film was produced to accompany the exhibition: "Beads: their use by Upper Great Lakes Indians", showing beadmaking and beadworking techniques. A demonstration of beadworking is done by American Indians, Irene Elk, Ella Waukey and Mark Johnson. Beads from the 17th-18th centuries are discussed with illustrations of old prints of bead making. Italian beadmaker Luigina Cicogna is shown making various types of beads, with good descriptions and closeups of her work. The final portion of this film is devoted to contemporary use of beads in clothing, pictures, etc.
