In 2006 De Obaldía completed a fellowship at the Wheaton Arts Creative Glass Center of America in Millville, NJ. She returned there in 2007 and 2008 to cast large-scale works for the show, "Unearthed."
"Unearthed,” is an exhibition of ten large-scale cast glass sculptures by Panamanian artist, Isabel De Obaldía. Inspired by Pre-Columbian sculptures as well as endangered animals of the Panamanian rain forest, the show consists of near life-sized crocodiles, monkey totems, death-heads and jaguars, some engraved, radiant with light and color, others sand-encrusted, as if recently dug up from ruins of long forgotten civilizations.
Filmed/edited by Pedro J. Icaza De Obaldía.
