Discusses the history, concept, design, and installation of the Hale telescope which went into operation in 1948 on Palomar Mountain. The astronomical discoveries resulting from its use and probable future discoveries is also discussed. Of particular interest is the film footage of the manufacture of the mirrored disk at Corning Glass Works and the transportation of the same. Dr. George McCauley of Corning Glass Works describes the production.
