Notes:
Watercolor brought by Sís as inspiration for glass piece to be made at GlassLab. Watercolor is of a man, whose body is composed of white flying birds, flying above land below. The man is flying in a blue sky full of circular objects, including a compass, drawn in black; on the man's left side is a larger white bird with a red heart.
Sís collaborated with gaffer Chris Rochelle in June 2012 during his time at GlassLab at The Corning Museum of Glass; this drawing was not turned into a piece of glass or it was turned into a piece of glass that was not kept.
Sís is an illustrator, author, and filmmaker who was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia in 1949; he attended the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague and the Royal College of Art in London.
GlassLab provides an opportunity for designers and glassmakers to collaborate by using hot glass as a catalyst for innovation.
