Notes:
Archival digital print on rag paper made from original 35mm infra-red slide; the print documents some of the experimental performance work with glass that Buster Simpson and Dale Chihuly encouraged their students to explore in the early years at Pilchuck Glass School. The performance investigates the different ways that glass can break and the different sounds that it makes. The experimental performance captured in the print was performed by Toots Zynsky and photographed by Simpson in the summer of 1973 at Pilchuck Glass School. The experimentation was essential for studio glass artists to understand the material and discover how far they could push it.
