Corning Glass Works Collection

Workers pose at Corning Glass Works construction site, 1889Corning Glass Works, previously known as the Brooklyn Flint Glass Company, moved to Corning, N.Y., in 1868. For the next 149 years, Corning Glass Works became known for products such as light bulbs, Pyrex and Corningware, Gorilla Glass, optical fiber, and Steuben art glass.

The Rakow Library’s collection on the company includes records related to their products and history, as well as company publications. The goal of this project is to arrange, describe, and make the collection available to researchers and historians. Corning Glass Works, now known as Corning Inc., continues to produce industrial and scientific glass.
