Local Artists Panel | Behind the Glass Lecture

Pursuing one’s dream to be a working artist can be a challenge. It takes determination, imagination, and pure grit. Many people have built their lives around their craft, but have you ever wondered what it takes to become a full-time, self-sufficient glass artist? From identifying a saleable product to design and production, to running and managing a self-supported studio, there is an art to being an artist that is rarely seen by the public. This special event brought together six working glass artists from Corning and across New York State for a panel discussion on the challenges and rewards of pursuing this life, moderated by hot glass programs manager, Eric Meek. Hear from Catherine Ayers of Pine City, N.Y.; Janet Dalecki from Wading River, N.Y.; Milon Townsend from Hilton, N.Y.; Margaret Neher from Ithaca, N.Y.; and Michael Benzer and John Gilvey of Hudson Beach Glass from Beacon, N.Y.
