Make Your Own Glass

You are here

Age Restriction:
age 4 and up

This Make Your Own Glass experience is open to ages four and up. Layering pieces of flat glass and heating them in a kiln oven until they melt together is called fusing. You’ll start by creating a design using colored frit (small chunks of glass), thin glass strings, and larger glass pieces. Museum staff will provide glass in a variety of colors and shapes for you to arrange in your design. Using non-toxic glue, you’ll secure your design in place, and our professionals will heat the piece in the kiln oven overnight. Your Mezuzah will be equipped with copper hooks and heated over a special material in the kiln oven to form a recess in the back making it fully functional. Pieces must cool overnight and can be picked up the next day via Curb Side pick-up, or shipped for an additional fee within the US and Canada.

Spots fill quickly, booking your experience online before your visit is recommended.

Masks are urged for all visitors to the Museum, and are required for unvaccinated visitors (over age 2), as mandated by New York State.
